My preteen daughter would like a Cricut and I'm wondering if you need Internet access to use it. If you do, which part needs access? Do I have to download a program and then I can do all work on my desktop without ever going online again? Or do I need to be online for any part of the project design/cutting etc?

You neee d to download the program. I also use internet to bring in images.

Bumping this up again - once the program is installed on my computer, can I create new projects easily and cut them without Internet access? Are there lots of fonts, pictures, and customization options if I stay offline?

Anything else I should know?

Yes you need internet every time you do project.

You do need internet access. I took an old device and deleted safari, all the apps I was able to, and put it on the highest childproof setting. The cricut app itself timed out after a certain time and she had to come back to me to put in the password. She also worked on it in a public house area.

I don’t think it’s 100% foolproof but it worked for us.

I was told that if I download the images I want to use its possible to cut offline. Also I I would import my own images. Is this true?

brother scan and cut can work mostly without internet. its similar.
