With all the conversation about teachers salaries being low, high.
What do you make? What hours? Do you get paid 10 months or 12? What vacations do you have? Do you get any benefits (tuition, insurance, Chasdei Lev)

Limudei Kodesh- $25,000, my children attend a different school so no tuition break, not eligible for Chasdei Lev(I think because of DH's salary which is low IMO so I'm curious what the threshold is.)

No, SLP is not a teacher. Why would you think it is?

Didn't you decide to be a SLP so you would make more than a teacher?

Don't think it's about numbers for Chasdei Lev. I'm pretty sure Morahs qualify if they're the main breadwinner.

I make the same as teachers. I didnt know how little our pay was going into this field.
Dont want to hijack this thread, just wanted to see what OP meant since SLPs in public school are considered teachers technically

WOW!! That's more than I make per hour with a degree in the professional world (I make 6 figures as a salary working full time). I understand your salary is way less than mine as you work less hours and only 10 months, but the per hour is very high.

It probably is equivalent to a public school salary actually considering that would be 35 hours a week (more than double your hours). If you'd double 28k and add on a bit more, it would be more or less in the same range, according to most public school pay scales. Of course, no benefits, but a lot of part time jobs don't offer unless you work a minimum of hours.

Do public school teachers count or you're only looking for private? I teach in the DOE and hit $100k this year (my 8th). I work 8:30-3. Ten months but it gets paid over twelve months. Full health insurance that I don't pay anything for. Summers off, week off in December, week off for February break, week off for Pesach, and random holidays here and there throughout the year. There are plenty of things to complain about but all in all I know I'm getting a pretty sweet deal. I have considered switching to a Jewish school because of the better environment and tuition breaks but at the end of the day I don't think it's worth it, all factors considered.

No job gives benefits for part time work. That's not unique to teaching.

These salaries don't sound so bad to me for the amount of hours a week. It's a job that's less than 10 months a year and includes approx 30 paid days off.

No one is saying it's a liveable salary, but no one in any field makes a liveable salary working 15 hours a week for 10 months.
