Every year this happens. I buys something in a store that seems fine in their lighting and mirror but at home it seems sheer if I look hard. Is this tznius or not??
You’re not seeing my actual skin but technically if you look hard enough you can figure out what’s skin and what’s shell (or dress) underneath.
And if I put something black under it you can see the darkness.

What if you put nude/beige?
No one should be looking that hard though.

I know what you mean . In the store I was so excited to get a top that I don't need a shell. When I came home I realized the sleeves weren't lined. And while you can't tell it's my skin it's really my skin. So I wear a full shell underneath and I'm so annoyed. It's a frum store. I shouldn't have to worry about sheer sleeves.

I’ll wear a nude bra. But the dress underneath has navy in it.
I just want to know if it’s ok to wear…I’m feeling frustrated. It was not a cheap top and I specifically got that color bec the one a shade laughter was sheer even in the store. I told myself I’m paying more for this one for a more tznius color!
I’m modern machmir for reference.

Black and navy can show through opaque. Put something light colored under and see if it shows through

What's worse is that when you comment, the store owners always insist that no one has ever complained before. (I'm MO, which sometimes means that I get poor service in frum stores, but I don't think this is exclusive to shoppers who dress the way I do.)

I was just in a store in Lakewood which had a sign which said something to effect “ summer stuff may be sheer, clingy etc” it’s up to you to be careful before you leave the store
