As an electric peeler. For vegetables. There's so many vegetables to peel on pesach

When I was little the most exciting part of pesach coming was when the electric apple peeler came out. I don't know if it was actually practical or not.

I never found the electric peelers to be much of a time saver.
OXO has excellent regular peelers which make the job as easy as possible.
Isn't this theoretically something a kid could do. It isn't dangerous like a knife theoretically might be.

Tx for the replies. Ds and dh usually do the peeling for pesach but the peels land up all over the floor instead of garbage and they peel too much sometimes

That is very strange as when I use my OXO peeler the peels just drop right below what I am peeling.
I generally peel at the sink because that is where I prep but you could just peel over a large bowl if you want to sit down.
The good peelers like OXO take off a very thin amount - much thinner than if I were to use a paring knife for example.

Try setting up a peeling station at a table or counter with parchment paper-the wide one. It usually just ends up all on the paper. Let it mound up and then wrap it up and toss in the bin.

I save the grocery storage bags for lining my counter before peeling.
For a bigger family it may be easier to put a plastic table cloth. Get the cheapest type.
It's also great line before a meal. That way you just wrap up with all the fish/dips drippings.

The electric peelers are not efficient or practical imo.
You need to set up each veg individually and then it peels it not too much quicker than you would and removes a ton of fruit/veg with the peel.
Its a cute gimmick and exciting for the kids but thats about it.

I have one. My kids do the peeling. Even my 3 year old can do it.
I still have to take off the ends of the potatoes, but for me it's worth it

When I have a lot of potatoes to peel I use this plus an oxo peeler and it cuts the time in half

I agree, but you can be doing something else while it’s peeling unless the time it takes to put it on and take it off is the same time it takes to peel it by hand.

Yeah I do this every Friday when I'm peeling so much for kugel, soups, salads, etc..
I put down a grocery bag and peel over it, either standing or sitting. I find myself it's easier if I peel and prep veggies earlier - like Thursday. Takes off the stress for shabbos.
But I don't have older kids who can help.

I have one and don’t use it because it works slowly and also takes off a thick layer
