My son has to do a history report. We do not usually read secular books. His teacher will not allow Jewish books. Any suggestions for completely clean books? Anything 1900 on is good. Biography's I think would work. He is in 8th grade and not super mature.
All ideas appreciated.

Just clarifying - he needs to read one book and report on it? Or he needs a topic and the sources have to be secular?
The Great Escape by Paul Brickhill is very readable and perfectly appropriate. Reading level is probably 12-14. I think it's been reprinted recently so shouldn't be hard to locate a copy.
A Night to Remember by Walter Lord is another good one.
