Nuts from last year

How long do nuts last in pantry? I had 3 closed packs from last year and mixed with new ones. Now I'm being told that last years are probably not good, but I mixed them🙈 and already baked 2 cakes don't know from new or old packs... help!

Nuts should be kept in the Fridge but I think had they been rancid you would have smelled it. Rancid Nuts have a strong smell

No. But if they're rancid aka stale, you'll taste it and not want to eat the cake.
