Some of my friends get together once a year to take a few days off of the doldrums of everyday life. (We are all in the 'married children AND young children' phase of life) We enjoy to relax, laugh, and have some fun together. We already covered Rhode Island, Berkshires, Lake George, Catskills. We are planning to do this again end of July but we're stuck on a location.

Speak Up...Gimme some suggestions ... Where would you go with your friends ??? (anywhere we can get to by car in the Tri-state area USA, some sightseeing preferred)

I second Niagara Falls. It's gorgeous, lots to see and do, casinos, too.

It's a long drive but worth it!

Anyone know anything about the NJ Shores ??
What is there to do there?

Also, Rutabaga, By the way- the site for the Hudson Valley, NY you gave me is really fabulous. So many nice places 'in our backyard'. Thanks for that link. We are still studying it.

Did you personally go to any of those areas?
Which ones are worthwhile looking into?

"The Shore" covers a lot in New Jersey, and what there is to do depends on where you are. If you're near Atlantic City, there are the casinos, of course, and shows (if you do that sort of thing), plus your normal beach-y things. Cape May has gorgeous old houses and is quite touristy.

What about Philadelphia? Kosher food is a little iffy in Center City, but if you have a car, there is lots available. There's a world-class art museum, there's the University Museum that was the co-sponsor of a lot of the expeditions that the British Museum is famous for, and therefore has a lot of amazing artifacts, Independence Mall, and new Constitution Museum, etc etc. Plus lot of wonderful parks.

do Short Hills spa and resort in Jersey they have everything a huge mall- it snear Teaneck food wise

Hey I was actually just in AC w/ a girl friend Mon nite, Sharis is the kosher restuarant there. we didnt do much though, but im sure there is lots to do.
