My lil boy is already 2 weeks old, baby #3 BH. Can you help me out with the following questions please? I'm struggling a little...

1 - He wakes up wet through multiple times a day. I know his eiver is a little crooked (mentioned in the hospital and by mohel), but I'm making an effort to place it straight when changing him. And I've tried going up a size in nappies/diapers with no change. Any advice?

2 - Speaking of nappies/diapers, he has a diaper rash despite me changing him at EVERY feed, even during the night (thanks to the wetting himself...). I'm putting cream on it. Is that normal at this age?

3 - When I try to latch him on to feed, he pushes off of me with his top arm so hard as I'm trying to get him on. Then he screams from frustration. If I feed him while he's swaddled, he'll fall asleep. If I tuck his arm between our stomachs, he usually gets it out pretty quickly as he's super strong. Any tips?

For the feeding issue, I would highly recommend taking him to an osteopath. We had a similar issue and the osteopath was a life saver

In tens of waking up wet, make sure his p*nis is pointed down and not up.

Make sure the aiver is down and the nappy is closed correctly. I did the nappy sometimes too lose and my son also had diaper rash early it can come at any age. For latching… I’m not a llbc location specialist. Mb hold a hand if u are feeding him? Try other positions as laying down, rugby position etc

For 1 & 2, try different diaper and baby wipes companies. Some just fit certain kids better, and some babies are more sensitive to certain ones.
For 3, but I use the football position and the hands can be tucked in that way. So can't help you about other positions.

Can you get a lactation consultant? He may have tongue tie which can be easily corrected with laser.

As far as the rash, are you using wipes? I use only warm water and cotton on my newborns for the first few weeks because any kind of wipes are too harsh on their skin.

I used two pampers at a time for my newborn boys.

The diaper rash maybe be fungal and will need an anti fungal cream.

I would try arrowroot powder for the diaper rash. Its in the baking section of our supermarket.

For the diaper rash, try using only pampers company it’s the most sensitive

If he constantly has a rash it most probably is yeast / fungal related which can be coming from you. Take probiotics and try nystatin powder for him.

When your house is not to cold, leave his diaper off for a few min so it can air out. But be prepaired for a mess

My babies are sensitive to the chemicals and dyes in certain diapers. Changing brand of diapers for me made all the difference!

Regarding diapers - for my son who was a water fountain I used thin diaper inserts like these. https://www.amazon.com/gp/prod.....;th=1
When he was big enough to fit size 4,we switched to using pampers overnights with no insert (only use the inserts at night now).

My son had chronic rashes, we found the most helpful was to give him baking soda baths. Just put a very generous amount of baking soda into his bath. I don't know why but this works amazingly well.

Mazel Tov! For the diaper rash - I find that if I am religious about A&D ointment - it coats and protects the skin so that it is hard for the rash to take hold. The A&D also helps heal but if he already has a bad rash you can put a more medicated cream on first and then coat with the A&D. Hatzlocha!

I second that it may be a fungal rash. Check with your pediatrician, but generally raised red dots could signal fungus. Don't know where you live, but if triple paste is available in your area, recommend using it and thickly to create a barrier once you determine the cause of the rash. It's expensive, but found it to be very effective. Hopefully you have access to a lactation consultant who can give you advice on how best to position him for nursing. My son was very wiggly and forceful and even though I was experienced at nursing, I was struggling with him. Lactation consultant reassured me and gave me good advice. Sometimes it's hunger or frustration or other times it's mechanical. It all worked out for us and he went on to nurse well for 15 months. Hope you're getting a chance to rest as well. If it's bright red, maybe patches, it's fungal and no cream besides antifungal will work so ask your doctor before wasting energy on different creams.

1) Make sure his eivar is pointing down and not up. Does he get wet up the front, up the back, or down the legs? The way you put on the diaper may need to be adjusted (e.g., a little higher in back or front, or a little tighter around waist, or a little more snug around the legs).

2) Diaper rash is normal, but needs care. I recommend showing to pediatrician, sometimes it needs anitfungal or antibiotic ointment. Otherwise, it may just need better diaper rash cream, ask a pharmacist. Not all diaper creams are equal, some are meant to be preventative and some for treatment.

3) For latching, their hands in the way are normal, but disruptive. I read that they use their sense of touch to help them find the bre@st. If you touch his chin to your bre@st, while lightly moving his hands away, he will use his hands much less because he can feel your bre@st with his chin instead - this really helped me. Or you can swaddle and then unswaddle during nursing once he is latched if you don't want him to fall asleep. Another option is to try a different position (e.g., football hold or laid back, etc.)
