I think all libraries have that.

I use the Ocean County library, I used to look at the receipt when I left to see what books they recommend (they had after listing all the books you took out a few books you might like based on what you took out)on the very bottom was how much you saved today and how much you saved since you started.

I had not taken a receipt in years, maybe next time I go I will.

Cool... BPL is catching up.
I used their calculator, they must only be calculating since recently... It should be much higher.

It said I saved $24,885 Cool
I'm sure I saved muuuuch more than that. They only started tracking at a certain point, I've been borrowing almost all my life.

By checkout history, they must have just added it today as I didn't see it in my account yesterday.
$4,245 is my amount but I've only been taking out books for less than a year so that's pretty impressive.

So that’s saying if there was no such thing as a library and you bought every single book you ever checked out at full price, that’s how much you would’ve paid. Surely you all realize this number is completely meaningless, right? Every single book you ever on a whim took out based on just a quick glance at the cover when you had five minutes at the library in a hurry. Nobody in their right mind would have actually bought all those books.

Obviously we would read a lot less if there was no library.

I guess you could say that if we had unlimited funds that's how much we would have spent.

Spend 5 minutes on booktok (the book lovers corner on tiktok) and you will see how much people spend on books. Tiktok users alone brought barnes and nobles back from failing to thriving. Over-consumption is a huge issue, people 100% spend in a crazy way on books.

Well I saved $2,500,000 by not buying a vacation home in Israel and only going as a visitor every now and then.
Why stop at the library?

Husband comes home panting and gasps

"I just saved $2.50,"

Wife: How?

Husband: I missed the bus and I kept chasing after it
Until I got home.

Wife: fool! You should have chased a taxi.
