Hi!
I could use help creating an upgraded, exciting, really fun bar mitzvah menu. We're hosting 50 people for Shabbos and need to plan a buffet toameha, Friday night meal, breakfast buffet, lunch meal, and shalis shudis. (Don't need kiddush help). We're hosting the meals at home, and planning on hiring wait help.
I like to cook, so I'm going to make some foods, but everything else will be catered or purchased.
First, anyone have a really great Lakewood caterer or take out they would recommend for anything particular? For example, we're definitely going to buy Challah from Shloimys and cinnamon buns for breakfast from the cookie corner.
Next, any ideas for tablescapes or food presentation? Anything you served or did at your simcha that people really appreciated and enjoyed?

What types of food do you enjoy making enough that you won't mind making many portions?
My experience with cooking for a crowd is that it's a mistake to make enough of any food for everyone to have since most of the time most people don't like everything and it's a better idea to make smaller amount ie 1 portion for every 2 people except if there is something everyone is being served plated.
You probably should start with asking your neighbors for caterers then looking at their menus.
