Can people on Medicaid change ONE family members HMO, and leave the rest on the old HMO, if one family member needs surgery and the Dr doesnt take the person's present HMO?

TIA

No you cannot.

Someone upthread responded yes. Please share how? I don’t know anyone who has been able to do it.

No, Medicaid plans are per individual, not per family.

Well that explains it.

If you are talking about Lakewood, Toms River or Jackson (which is the section this is in) you cannot.

So you cant switch one person's HMO and leave the rest of the family with the one that have, in New Jersey? Is that definite?

Why don't you call the state health and human resources dept to find out?

Exactly. But if you don’t trust me just call Medicaid’s main number. They pick up the phone.

Brilliant idea!

Update:

I called state health, they recommended I call a diff office, they recommended I call a diff office and I reached a director of medicaid who said you very definitely can change one family members HMO, and leave others on the one theyve always had. It took three phone calls and waiting but hopefully this woman knows what shes saying.

I would call LRRC to check to make sure.
Because I (and manay others) are under the impression that in NJ it's not allowed.
Unless it's some recent

LRRC told me that I definitely couldn’t and there was absolutely no way.

If you manage to do it then please post an update.
