Cholent? Do I need to purchase a blech and make it in a pot? (I usually use a crockpot)

Or does anyone have other alternatives? Maybe a bit nicer for Yom Tov

Thanks!

Use the crockpot as usual. Put it on on a timer so every morning it turns on at 11am and turns off at 4pm, and on Friday make sure to remove the off pin while it's on, so it doesn't turn off and cooks all shabbos.

It’s Shabbos so your regular Shabbos meal is fine.
If you really want to add something extra
Franks n Blanks, Deli roll. Maybe in the shape of a Torah
I say this since we don’t usually do things with puff pastry

I'm going to do it in a crockpot with the timer set to go on on Friday morning.

I'm going to do a hot pastrami, put in oven right before shabbos on low.

I've left a crockpot on for 48+ hours with no issues.

I have a seven day timer.
It's very not precise, but it works within 4 hours or so. So I set it to turn on on Friday between 6am and 10am and turn off on Shabbos between 12 noon and 4pm.

That's cool!

Can you link it, or something similar?

Go to Amazon. Look at 7 day timers.
I can't link now.

I leve the crock.pot on and fill it with water until I'm ready to load it up- I don't mind it being on, but don't want it on so long empty. Yapchik is definitely also an option.

What does it taste like? Different than how brisket normally comes out, or same?
Thanks

It tastes like cholent meat when cooked that long. I've tried it.

Is that considered cooking on shabbos?

We have our crockpot plugged into an electric timer so you can set it to turn on and off on specific days.

No, why would it be?

You can but raw/uncooked food into the oven right before shabbos, no problem.

It's only that if you are going to have "cooked" food, it should be at least 2/3 (or 1/3?) cooked like maachel Ben Drusai.

Just to clarify-I’m quite sure it can only be fully raw when Shabbos starts, if it’s to be eaten Shabbos day; not Friday night.

Make it in the crock pot on Friday, just like you usually do. Put up your crock pot on Thursday, and put water in it until you are ready to make your cholent.
