no it doesn’t because it cooks on the keep warm setting which is very low and slow. It’s melt in your mouth amazing.

I'm debating barbecuing on Friday afternoon for Shabbos lunch and serving cold salads and gazpacho to go with it. In the alternative, I will cook a Brisket on Thursday morning and oven bake cutlets served with a fruit salsa. Rice on the side and a big salad. Fruit, brownies, and apple pie for dessert.

Why can't you just plug the crockpot base in before YT and then put the actual crockpot on the base on Friday afternoon?

You can but raw/uncooked food into the oven right before shabbos, no problem.

It's only that if you are going to have "cooked" food, it should be at least 2/3 (or 1/3?) cooked like maachel Ben Drusai.

AYLOR because the halachos may be different on a Yom Tov going into Shabbos, as opposed to a regular Erev Shabbos.

I see many suggested here to cook cholent as you usually do in crockpot.

But, don't you usually first cook on high and then switch it to low for Shabbos? How would you recommend doing it on Yom Tov?

There are good reasons for your food to be fully cooked before Shabbos. Just heard a shiur from a Rav who is a baki in Hilchos Shabbos, but 1/3 is allowed.
