Hello, title says it all.
I know there are lots of threads on the topic but I'm wondering about recent trends in the field. Is this still a thing? Did you take a course and then have success in finding a job?
I'm stuck at a job where there's not that much room for growth and looking to up my skills. So I started looking into one of the many online courses. They look very enticing and exciting but I'm wondering if it's the right route.
I appreciate any input.

I don't have direct knowledge of the field, but what constitutes this course? There are universities which have 4 year BFA programs in graphic art so by definition, you have a lot more knowledge with that degree. Is that important to some employers? Probably. But there may be work for those who take only an online course.
