One of my kids is 5 and he's is super picky and he is turned off of food by smells--but I can't figure out a rhyme or reason to it. Telling him "it's yummy" doesn't help, if it doesn't smell good to him he won't go near it. He doesn't like ketchup.
He's not on the spectrum. Has no other delays. Any suggestions?

It mentions that "don't experiment with essential oils without contacting a professional"--which professional would deal with this?

Ami just had an article in the living section on this; super picky eating is now a recognized eating disorder, ARFID -- Avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder. You can get professional help for it.

Holistic mother on Instagram keeps having people share on her page how humic/fulvic acids helped expand their kids palates and how they are now eating things they refused to try before.
Zinc and Thiamine can help also.
If they are restricting to specific food groups like gluten or dairy, it can help to remove those.
I would also see a tongue tie literate provider to rule out oral ties or other oral restrictions.
Addressing gut dysbiosis and inflammation helped us a lot with picky eating.
Adding in a digestive enzyme and/or hydrochloric acid can help as well.
