We have carpet in our living room for many years so we are putting in new flooring.
We are debating whether we should put carpet again or maybe vinyl tiles or something similar.
DH wants it to be carpet because he says carpet is much warmer then tiles, but I think tiles are more the "in" thing then carpets.
What do you think?

Maybe do tiles and you can get an area rug for DH's preferences?
I personally love tiles. So much easier to keep clean.

What’s underneath your living room floor? If it’s a basement or another heated space you don’t need to worry much. We live in a very cold place and most of our ground floor is the old wood subfloor, so no insulation under it. It doesn’t get that cold. Our master bedroom is over a crawl space and that floor not fun to wake up to.
I wouldn’t do carpet in a living space. LVP (might be called something different in the UK, but it’s imitation wood flooring that either interlocks or is glued down) has insulation on the back so it might be a good middle ground.
