How do most people get Sifrei Torah for "Garage Minyanim"?

How do most people get Sifrei Torah for "Garage Minyanim" in areas where there are no Minyanim nearby?

Do the people in the area "chip in" or does one person pay, or is there a place to borrow a Sefer Torah?

I don't think they buy.

We had one and borrowed it from a minyan that had a few and was able to lend us one.

Usually borrow, or someone in the minyan happens to have one

I've never heard of chipping in to buy.
