The thread about the mom worried that adults who chat with her kids could be creeps, got me thinking.
I’ve read that most s—xual abuse is perpetrated by people who know the child well, family or close friends etc.
Are there statistics about this kind of abuse, and what percentage is family/ close friends versus strangers?
I feel like we are so careful about strangers, but so many people are molested by their uncles or cousins or next door neighbors!

Stranger danger is real, but when it comes to child molestation specifically, it seems that it's most often someone the child knows at least to some extent. IDK that there are accurate statistics since molestation is often not reported to the authorities or anyone else. Especially if it was a relative, family friend, or teacher.
