He basically wakes to eat (every 2 hours, once in a while he will go 3 hours)
It takes him 45 min to drink the bottle, dr says he has weak suck but not much to do about it
He’s gaining nicely but it’s weird to me that he’s hardly ever up!

No, it's not. Have you had a lactation consultant check him out? I would start with that. It's a little concerning that your pediatrician is brushing this off.

Was he born early? If yes remember to take gestational age into account

My Baby is 8 weeks and sleeps a lot. She also cries a lot. She is starting to mentch out. She eats quickly. Can probably down a bottle in 10 minutes. Nursing also takes about 10-15 minutes. Make sure you have a good nipple. Some flows very very slowly. Personally, I like the nipples from the hospital and bring home as many as I can.

A very sleepy baby and not gaining weight can be a sign of a serious health problem. Talking from experience.
Or it can be nothing

I vote normal.

He's still a newborn.

Most of my babies slept from feed to feed at this age.

It's a sign of being content.

If he's waking up every two hours and then takes a bottle for 45 minutes, I don't even consider it sleeping a lot.

He's probably tired out after all the energy it's taking him to have the bottle.

My 4 month old was like that at that age and I was so nervous. as they get older, they start sleeping less...if Dr isn't worried, try to enjoy the downtime Smile

45 mins is too long of a time for a nursing session at that age. I’d get your baby evaluated by a LC for a tongue tie issue.

Normal. How is baby at night?
One of my babies were this way. She'd also sleep fir 13 hours at night. I'd stand over her crib and will her to breath but everyone warned me NOT to wake her.
She was content and growing by leaps and bounds. She'd cluster feed before bedtime and cluster feed in the morning. She was at the close to the 10th percentile for height and weight. She was such a happy content baby at around 6 weeks she started "waking up" more and was so content in wherever we positioned her/put her down. Until she started teething. Twisted Evil then she made up for all those hours she slept..... then she finally got a bunch of teeth, she still didn't stop crying, she was desperate to be crawling and walking and being independent. She HATED being a baby.
To this day she's a super independent kid and is very very tall, nicely built, and very thin.

None of my other babies were like that.

The sleeping is normal, bottle not so much. Can you try a nipple with a larger hole? My babies sleep a lot also but gain nicely.
