Are you happy with the level of kodesh? Can your kids daven freely, both genders, read chumash and rashi, are they fluent in modern Hebrew?

What about secular subjects? Are they taught in a creative and interesting way, or are they unimportant for you? Are your kids prepared for state exams and further college education?

What about attitude to children and communication with parents? Are children treated with an understanding of their age and stage? Do you think the school is your partner, or do you sometimes have to actively protect your child from teachers unprofessional behavior?

Do your kids schools meet all of these criteria or only some? And what are they? Please also name the school/ city, if you don’t mind.

There won't ever be a school that will score a perfect 100 and answer to all your criteria.
The only way you can get all you want is by homeschooling. Otherwise, you have to decide what's most important to you and select a school accordingly, while keeping in mind that your child isn't it's only student.

No

I want to see if my expectations are realistic.

I also kind of a wonder, the people in Lakewood whose kids had no school, and then they finally got a spot, are your expectations minimal? Or do they really learn amazingly once they are in?

Yeshivas and Bais Yaakovs are wonderful. They have higher scores and less drugs, violence, and teen pregnancy than any non Jewish school. They produce law-abiding, responsible citizens to a far greater degree than the public school system. The public school system, board of Ed and NY Times should be using yeshivas and BYs as role models instead of harassing them. The end. Put that in your article and leave us alone, please. Thank you.

I am really puzzled
Is it because I am writing in paragraphs that I get accused of writing an article?

Had it been unstructured, it would have looked more authentic?

I’m sorry if you’re the real deal. Imamother has had its share of trolls, infiltrators and in general not good people. Frum educational institutions are under attack from within and from without. The combination of those two and a nicely worded op made some people suspicious. Maybe you’re better off asking around IRL.

Maybe you can clarify why you’re asking.
Are you looking for a school in Lakewood?
The style of your questioning sounds like you’re just looking for writing material. Or making some kind of poll. Especially the last one.

For starters, which community are you from that you are asking this question? Most women on this site would have enough familiarity with the frum system (and the fact that it's not monolithic) to not ask such broad, open ended questions.

My boys are in an OOT yeshivish elementary school. I am super happy but who says you want to live where I do? So its a hard question to answer.

I was absolutely thrilled with my children’s education. (Although I do wish they spoke a more fluent Hebrew-but I attribute that to one DD is unwilling to put herself out there and try). Not even teachers has been amazing, but most really have been good if not great. I am aware that my children come with their own strengths and weaknesses, interests and hobbies. They are not perfect either. My children are hardworking and B”H naturally intelligent. They were more than prepared for Sem and secular college and thrived at both. They are products of Bergen County MO schools. While I do not enjoy paying the tuition I paid, it was an expense I didn’t begrudge. (Our Shul renovation and family mandatory contribution is a whole different story-that I object to)

As I am not from Brooklyn/Monsey/Lakewood, a BY or “yeshiva” or mosdot parent I assume I am not your target audience.

I can't imagine that anyone graduates in Lakewood speaking modern Hebrew fluently. Did you really think that was possible?

Not at all true. My daughter is in the mamlachti religious public high school in our area and we are 100%, if not more than that, happy with the school. It is everything that we wanted for her and is giving her a very good education, both secular and kodesh. It is 100% a partner with us. And my child is learning in the way that is best for her.

Of course a school can be 100%. Im sorry you think it is not possible.

Okay
My kids have gone to schools that had following issues:
- teachers often being late, absent or unprepared at all.
- teachers doing cruel and counterproductive things as a punishment for misbehavior.
- teacher having unrealistic expectations of kids due to lack of experience and knowledge (expecting 2 graders to do things that kids learn in 5th grade)
- lessons not following a curriculum in a logical way, frequent testing without sufficient preparation, grading for tests not transparent
- parental emails being ignored by all personal including management.

I wonder if that’s normal for frum schools.

And if yes, do people just make do with all these issues because they sometimes cannot get a spot in a school at all?

I don't see a heter to talk about negative information like this on a public forum unless it's really le'toeles.
If you post where you live and ask for schools which fit your criteria in that area, that is toeles.
A general question for information worldwide about negative points on schools is not correct unless you are going to move to whichever place people say is good.

I was not asking for bad information in my OP.
I know all schools where I live. I don’t need a public forum for that.

I am afraid you are really trying to make a LH case out of my post but it doesn’t really work.

I worked in a not frum high school and saw all of this.
