I've had it up to here with yeshivos!!!

Why can't a good ehrilche bochur get into a good yeshiva? We live in Europe and don't have any good options locally but my son isn't getting in anywhere decent abroad.

B"H he's not without a yeshiva, he can stay where he is, but he's not happy. He's been there for four years and he's desperate for a change.

Why, oh why, is it so so hard????

We applied, we badgered, we waited.... and after 5 months of begging and pleading we're told they weren't able to find out about him. Sorry. Another place got back after 3 months with an equally lousy excuse.

I don't want him to go to the Mir as a last resort. Why should he have to?

I'm just really really sad.

I'm not in the misery-loves-company mood today but I'd love to hear from other mamas in the trenches. Please share words of chizuk/advice.

What do you want to hear?

What do you mean they couldn't get info on him? Was he in a yeshiva till now? Did he have magidei shiur? Do they have phone numbers? If they do then of course they were called.

They called. They heard. Maybe they didn't hear what they wanted to hear.

They need to hear something from this list;

1. Your husband is a knacker
2. Your husband is a shyne yid in their circles
3. You have money
4. You have status
5. You have power
6. Your father or fil has money
7. Your father or fil is a knacker
8. Your father or fil has status
9. Your father or fil has power.

If you are from in town then the rules are slightly different as in you can be of a simpler family but you have to have made it in some way and your bochur must have a real solid name.

Do you have a maggid shiur or rav who is a bit more famous and can call and vouch for him?
It might be true that it’s just too hard for them to get accurate info.
Also, there are more options in eretz yisroel besides mir. There are so many smaller neutral yeshivos for chassidish boys which are not hard to get into. I’m not talking about the top 5 which is a waste of time to try! Are you applying only to those hard to get into ones?

Mir has some Chaburas that are considered on par with Brisk. When you say Mir, you're using too broad a term. It really matters which Chaburah. .

This. Op is probably trying to get into very hard to get into yeshivahs and they are extremely hard for American boys as well.

Wait. I think I misread you.
Yeshiva Gedolah is different than ketana and would probably take your son if he is a good learner or at least a decent boy that adheres to the zmanim etc.

Which yeshivas have you tried to get in to?
