Why can't you make cholent when you normally do? It's not really something you make ahead and reheat.

I'm having a flame on (blech for Shabbos) and I plan to put it up on Friday, then transfer to crockpot.

Keeping a crockpot plugged in with water in the pot. Making cholent erev shabbos (with an eruv tavshilin) as usual.

I've been trying to figure this out, too. I usually make my cholent in a roaster oven on Friday on 450 for 3/4 hours, and then put it on 225, till Shabbes afternoon.
Not sure how to pull this on. I do need to leave my oven on 350 over yom tov, so that covers cooking it, but don't know what to do after that. I don't like cholent in the crock pot

I’m probably the only one who already prepared the Chulent. It’s raw though. I just wanted it to be out of the way.
Lately I’ve been baking the Chulent in the oven in a 9x13 pan. I transfer to the crockpot right before shabbos
Today I put the diced onion, potatoes, beans, barley, spices and a little water in the 9 x 13.
I will add water and bake on Thursday.
My crockpot will be plugged in and on Friday I will transfer to the crockpot and add meat, kishka and water.
