Which circles? I didn't realize this is a thing.
Parents and inlaws never got anything for me.
For my first they both chipped in for bigger stuff I needed like crib and carriage.
But for my other kids they either bought a stretchie or nothing. I don't expect anything.

Reading this thread though I see how nice it would be to get something for the new mother.
As a boy Mom I'm making a mental note for when my teen boys will get married iy"h.

I hate this way of thinking “how its the norm”

NOTHING IS THE NORM it’s usually sheep following sheep … I have a friend who is never happy because her mil doesnt follow the norms but news flash whats norm to you isnt norm to her. No one owes anyone a gift

I am quite sure that poster was complaining that she got no gift whatsoever. Nothing for the baby.

Which IS very hurtful.

I would not suggest this for Israel this time of year. Will be months before she can use them, if at all.

I got my DIL a nice diaper bag. Offered for her to pick but she said she trusted my taste and experience, so I chose 4 options from Amazon, sent her links, and then she picked the one she preferred.
