Refrigeration required but it lasts a long time in the fridge. Not that I would know--it never hangs around here long enough for me to find out. But my friend said she had one in her fridge for a couple of months(!) and it was still good. (Do those people have self-control or what?)

I wouldn't trust a cake left in the refrigerator for more than a week - I mean I wouldn't trust the ingredients in the cake to last that long so why would I eat a cake that old.
However cheesecake freezes exceptionally well. You can even do individual slices to make having a small amount easier.
