Baby screams in car

Any tips? Baby is a few weeks old and screams hysterically in the car. It’s ok when we are moving but as soon as we stop, baby starts screaming as if it’s terrified.

I had a few of these.

One of them, a pacifier helped a lot.

Another one... it took a while.

Sometimes if DH is driving I'll sit next to their carseat and lean over and nurse them while we're driving. It's uncomfortable for me but calms them down a lot.

For us, rolling down the window has been known to help. I think it's the white noise.

both my kids cried in the car all the time for over a year. was horrible

Unfortunately one of ours didn't stop until she grew out of being put backwards. We realised it was car sickness because when we went for longer drives she would actually throw up. While she didn't throw up on shorter drives, she was probably still nauseas. It's considered ideal for a child to face backward as long as possible for safety reasons. In our situation, I turned once legally permitted because vomit is a choking hazard, and sometimes the assessment for safety changes based on different circumstances. I hope this isn't the situation with your kid.

It’s so stressful. I wanted to get a sign that says “screaming baby on board” so cars would be nicer about letting me in.
