If you are a couple with 3 children living in brooklyn, NY..what is your monthly/yearly cost of living without being on any government programs and not receiving any financial support?

I'm trying to get an estimate of what to expect so I can plan how much I'll need to work and how to set a budget.

Are you 3 with or without your children?

It's unclear from your post and your title.

What age children and in what neighborhood/schools. That makes a big difference.

Lots of variables.

$3500 Rent for a 3 bedroom
$1000 groceries- this increased a lot this year
$150 miscellaneous household goods
$200 car expense - we own our 2021 car, so no car payments. This includes insurance, gas, occasional tolls, subway
$2000 - tuition for school 10k a year × 2 + playgroup for 1 (24k a year divided by 12 months)
$120 cellphones
$330 clothing (4k a year divided by 12 months)
$250 Date night + discretionary funds for each of us
$400 cleaning help

Comes out to 95k post tax, which at a 30% tax rate comes out to 137k pretax
I don't think I left out anything except health insurance which Is free for us this year due to job specifics, however next year it will be $15k including deductible at dh job and 25k including deductible at my job. Pretax, so factor in an additional x amount for that...

This doesn't include any savings in the budget
We also put into 401k.

Hope this helps!
