I work everyday so I need a rotation of outfits.

Plus better for Sunday/date nights etc.

Plus Shabbos/YT/Simchas.

What’s a normal amount to spend per season on a wardrobe?

It’s not ‘normal’ to invest in a full new wardrobe each season.

This exactly. I literally never heard of this till ima mother. This is a foreign concept to me.

First of all, you can rotate a much smaller amount of outfits. 5-7 is fine

You can wear separated that can be mixed and matched so they are worn in different combinations

Lastly, why would someone need that many outdoors each season? What Happened to the clothing from the season before? Or last year? Even if you wanted to buy one or 2 things per season (let’s say) that should be adding on to your existing wardrobe

If your size fluctuates you often do need to buy a lot of new clothes each season.

I usually buy around 3 new weekday outfits/dresses each costing about $75 and 1 new Shabbos outfit at about $150. Plus new pair of shoes for $100.

So altogether about $500

Why can’t that be normal? Everyone’s normal is different . It depends on what they can afford , and if they enjoy shopping or not.

Why I need an almost new wardrobe most every season:

A - shopping is hard for me. Till I figure out what I like, I already decided I don’t like it. Never mind in a year from when I bought it.

B - My size changed from last year, which was already different from year before

C - my husband likes to see me in fresh new stuff. I just want to make sure I’m spending moderately.

I spend about $1000-$1500 a season. This includes weekday, shabbos, shabbos robe, shoes.

If she’s asking a large varied group of women (which she did) for a ‘norm’ I stand by my answer.

A much better question is - how much of your household budget goes towards working mom’s wardrobe, especially if you really like buying new stuff to wear.

Not really. The proper answer would be- everyone has their own normal. We don’t know her budget so no way for us to tell her what she she should spend.

Agree, and without seeing this, I edited my response to basically say the same thing.

Why do you ask? If someone tells you that you're spending too much, will you buy less? If someone spends ten times much as you do, will you buy more?

Buy what you need, within your budget. Since your needs and your budget aren't the same as anyone else's, it will not be helpful to hear what others do.

Same. I don't have tons of money, husbands in chinuch, but I'm a teacher and I find that I need to look somewhat current, plus I like clothes and it helps my mood and confidence tremendously when I'm wearing something I like. I would say I spend around $1500 every 6 months.

Not only do I have new wardrobe per season every year I have multiple wardrobes as I have my “fat wardrobe” and skinny wardrobe as my weight can fluctuate at least 10lbs within 6 weeks and that’s 2-3 sizes different. I know others who have the same. But I don’t spend more than a thousand dollars per season. I’m a smart online shopper.

I think this where my disconnect is... "somewhat current" to me means purchased in the past 3 years.

I bought 3 new everday tops, one shabbos top, and one top for weddings this season and a shabbos robe, all on sale/discount, but Im also still wearing stuff like from 5 or more years ago. Believe me those things that are older suit me better and make me look skinnier, (I dont know if its still stylish or not, but I got compliments when wearing them on how skinny I look) They look better on me than my new stuff that are more current, style wise but are not that flattering. I have lot of steady commitments where I need to be dressed.

Question should be how many outfits do you need in a wardrobe. It doesnt matter if its new from this season or ten yrs old.

It was about $600-700 including 1 skirt. They were all in local stores but partly discounted already
