They are not doing much learning then anyways because they are so tired at that point.
They are still so young.
I understand your frustration but try to see the upside of this.
Mine is home before 1 :30 but not in NY. | Having SUCH a short day makes it impossible for both parents to be able to work full or even 3/4 time. And many or most families out there need that. Thats why 4pm is the norm, I would think.

Lakewood. Boy ends at 2.
He stays for clubs until 3 (that I pay extra for)
I wish my school would do like some other Lakewood schools and end at 3 or 3:15.
Finishing at 2 is really a short day. He's already 6, not a toddler.

That is really short. Our nursery program (year before pre1) ends at 2 unless you do extended day. I assume its a single curriculum? My boys have kodesh and chol already in pre1a which is why the day ends later.

Holdover from R Aharon.
R Aharon Kotlet held that when boys are learning to read hebrew not to also add English and math.
In theory I agree. My primary boys learn to read Hebrew fluently in primary and English in 1st grade. There's virtually no confusion in trying to learn to read 2 languages simultaneously. And they learn to read English quickly and efficiently.
As opposed to my daughter and her friends who learned both in primary and struggled a lot more. Learning 2 languages at 5, 2 directions. It was hard
I just don't like that they come home so early so BH there are clubs.
Some Lakewood schools have started an hour or 2 of English in primary (they gor til 3 or 3:15). It's abc, numbers, and reading readiness.
We'll see if more schools do. I think they will because more and more parents in general are sending to playgroups until 3 and need the longer hours
