Hi Everyone,

What are some perks that your schools give you? Food, coffee, chol hamoed events, etc? I'm a head of school looking to show my teachers some extra appreciation and I'd love to hear
1.What does your school do for teachers?
2.What would you like to see them do(please be reasonable).

My kids school gave teachers cleaning help before pesach. Not money towards cleaning help, but they actually sent a cleaning crew!

Treat them to a nice lunch here and there, or something nice for Rosh Chodesh

My daughter came home now, telling me their teachers went on a trip and they had 12th graders subs. That's original!

Not what you are looking for but I’ll say anyway,

I’m teaching for 15 years and the best thing you can give your teachers is a principle like I have. Kind, sensitive, has my back, supportive while still being demanding and running the school so effectively. She also has a beautiful balance of making space for individual teachers strengths and creativity while also making sure the core curriculum gets covered.
No amount of fancy lunches can compete with that.

To answer your question, some ideas I’ve seen over the years ;
- giving the teachers a period off on their birthday. With such busy lives 45 minutes to daven and say some Tehillim is an awesome bday gift.
- coffee and tea is pretty standard in most schools. A coffee machine would be a nice upgrade if the school has the budget to maintain it.
- water bottles in the fridge to grab and take into class with you.
- decent bathroom, very appreciated especially when pregnant. Stocked with feminine products in case of emergency, nice smelling soap etc is a nice bonus.

The preschool where my friend teaches gives a danish every rosh chodesh
Annual party in evening, she gives a gift, cook book, gift cert etc
They get 2 days off prior to pesach
When she gives new music CDs for the classrooms she sometimes orders enough for all the teachers to take home
This year they gave the newest mitzva kinder book before pesach

My school gave money before yt and my sister in law got a manicure gift card on rosh chodesh (not every) I loved that idea.

ETA my school had a real teachers room with snacks for teachers which was also really appreciated!

Covering the class for 5 -10 minutes to give bathroom/ coffee breaks is the biggest favor anyone has ever done for me.
In all seriousness, making them feel appreciated, occasional pastries in the teachers room, nice coffee, etc
