What could this be?? Ds 5 keeps waking up crying

Ds woke up twice already crying hysterically that his feet hurt. And he points to both legs at the ankle area and clutches them. He won’t straighten them until after a few minutes he gets tired and falls back asleep. I’m so worried! He was totally fine when he went to sleep.

I had this as a kid periodically. Sometimes it was before a growth spurt, and sometimes it was when I had strep, but the pain was higher up- more like in my calves.

Don't know where you live, but it's tick season and ticks equal lyme equals leg pain etc.
Please take your child to the doctor.

He’s fine now, says it’s better. Could it still be strep or Lyme if it was just during one night? I just recently had him tested for both and he hates being tested…

My daughter used to wake up like this a lot. I find it's either growing pains or it happened when she had lots of sugar. What helped was massaging with some pressure the ankle area. Up and down and around. After 5-10 minutes she felt relief and went back to sleep.
