Hi ladies!
We're probably going to Belgium in August. We're looking for a frum hotel (easier for shabbes) in a nice place, maybe in Antwerp (we need to go there + Brussels + maybe Knokke + all around the country, like Walibi and so on). Or at least a place that doesn't make things difficult.

I'm also up for a Belgium meet! Smile Smile

any ideas, advice...? (on restaurants too lol)

Antwerp has a lovely community. That makes it "nice" in my eyes, SarahD.

Ruchel, I have relatives there, but I don't know of places to stay.

Oh, the community is wonderful, but Antwerp itself is not on my list of nice places to visit. Except maybe Kleinblatts.

I've been there for Shabbos a few times and it was lovely. I have heard that families go out of town during the summer, to escape the heat.

there are quiet a few hotels in the jewish area in Antwerp.
I would suggest the Carlton hotel. Its near kosher/shops/restaurants (chinese, fleishig, pizza)/shuls/town/ etc..
I think you can order a kosher breakfast but I would suggest your Dh to bring some things back on the way home from shul as there are quiet a few shops around and it'll work out much cheaper!!
Anything else you'd like to know?
August is very quiet around , people leave for two or three weeks, not so much to escape from the heat (havent had much this year Wink ) as to get some fresh air and a change of scenery.

LOL

I do know that one or two families live there (and one of them could be your cousin ;-)unless you misunderstood her) but its very far out and no erouv.
It would be a shame that if you are here already to go and live there. You wont get there the real 'taste' of antwerp.

Rebeca, my cousin was totally surprised and upset about my question! she says of course it's in the eruv, Beerchem has always been inside, and in the shul in front of her building (that closed last year) there was a map of the eruv and Bercheem is inside.

BH I won't have to cancel the hotel. We'll get an idea of in-town Antwerp after shabbes, I'm really curious about everything.
