Specifically asking for uk ladies but I'm happy for anyone to chime in.
Did you pay privately for it? If yes, where from and how much did you pay?
I'm not massively obese, just more very overweight, think 50 pounds over. I have high blood pressure which I need to do something about fast, I'm trying to avoid medication for the blood pressure. I really need to lose weight and exercise, I'm just so busy, and find dieting really hard! What are the criteria for getting it on the NHS? I know that diabetes is one of them, and as far as I know I don't have that.
I'm young, mid 30's and done having kids.

Also how much did you lose on it, and for how long? Is it called ozempic in the UK? What were your side effects? Tia!

Wegovy?

Iv heard people asking for ozempic in the pharmacies too.

I know people who got it on nhs if they were pre diabetes.

I have heard that a lot of women have been taking it.

Thanks. I'll also be calling my Doctor about it, hopefully on Monday if I remember so that I can discuss my options.
Do you think they'll give it to me if I have high blood pressure?

My sister did it. I think she got it from one of the private Jewish Drs. She's got a couple shots left and is running out. Apparently they are low stock now

I’m on it for diabetes so my insurance covers it. I don’t think insurance covers if it’s used to lose weight.

Because that's just a bandaid, I want to lose weight, feel and look good too. If I take blood pressure meds, and then what? If I take ozempic hopefully I'll lose weight, and that will lower my blood pressure. That's what I'm hoping, that's if I can get a hold of it.
I can't afford an outrageous price for it, so after yom tov I'll have to seriously try to lose weight on my own but I find it extremely difficult.

I saw somewhere that NHS offers it if you are obese and have another comormid condition, so it's very possible that you'll get it if you're obese and have high blood pressure.

BP isn’t always weight related. Although I have had gestational hypertension, my BP is normal when not pregnant even though I am overweight. Conversely, my slim DH has dangerously high BP (even higher than my numbers when I was pregnant) and is on meds for it.

DH was on ozempic. We got it online maybe health express. It helped him a lot but you start with lower doses and eventually go up to 1g and when he reached there it was difficult to get because they stopped it for weight and he had a little break and then took the higher dose and it made him feel ill. He was vomiting.
But I think that he could have stayed on the lower dose (the one before 1) and it still helped him lose a lot of weight.
For him it also helped him long term because it stifles the appetite and that taught him to think when he needs to eat, is he indeed hungry

Thank you.
Any idea how much he paid?

I know but I feel that mine is. I was told that I need to lose weight, do exercise and overall get fitter and healthier. I know the injections are not a fix all. I need the time to also make myself delicious veg etc. Right now I don't, but after sukkos I don't have a choice, I'll have to.

We got it on health express but at some point they stopped supplying it for people who are not diabetic. But they continued supplying for people who were on it.
Some of the local private GP's can also supply it but you would need to pay for a consultation and the prescription.

My point is just if your BP turns out not to be weight related, you can lose weight and eat all the delicious veg you want, but it won’t necessarily change your BP. Fitness usually does lower BP but like I said, my DH has high BP and it is unrelated to diet, activity or weight. Injections come with side effects and you need to take them for life or a person’s success on them is limited.

Dh was getting it from our gp, paying privately. He paid 10 for the prescription and about 160 - 180 for the pen for 4 weeks.

He asked for a new prescription a last week and was told nhs doesn't allow it to be prescribed anymore, only for diabetes.

But I read on the news that there is a new drug called wegovy that is meant only for weightless patients and can be prescribed on nhs. I need to call our doctor to see if he can give to dh. Either that or see if a private doctor will prescribe
