Ok, but you said everyone has off. Just because you didn’t and your kids don’t and maybe even the schools in your area don’t, doesn’t mean it’s that way in all schools.

T'zion Gedilya is not a small fast it's one of the 4 fast days that Chazel set up for the Chubban.
It's is not consisted a small fast just because you don't fast on it.

Tzim Gedaliah is a serious fast, but rabbanim are pretty lenient about it because it's so close to YK and if we have to choose, obviously yk is more important to fast

It’s a minor fast day. Which means if you’re pregnant or nursing or very bad at fasting you probably don’t need to. It doesn’t mean it’s not serious but many don’t fast today.

Right, my older kids, including my 6th grader who isn’t fasting yet, all had half a day. My 2nd grader had a full day.
