I use tomato paste as my base and use just a little water to thin it out. I sautee onions until translucent then add minced garlic, then the paste, water, black pepper, paprika, salt and oregano.
I let it simmer for 5 minutes then schmear on the dough.

The secret to awesome pizza, lasagna, baked ziti and anything else saucy is barilla tomato basil pasta sauce. It is unbelievable. You don't need to add any spices. My sister used to eat poonfuls out of the jar when she was pregnant.

That's great.
But not readily available in Israel (if available at all).

ooooh, oops. then what I highly recommend, is copying the barilla recipe. This is what I assume it is, since we eat it so much here (it also helps that I am looking at the back of the jar. )
1 can diced tomatoes
1 can tomato puree (this is made from sauce and paste, it is much thicker than plain sauce)
Lots of basil
diced onions and fresh garlic
a little bit of sugar
salt
and stir in some olive oil
bring to a boil then let cool before putting on pizza.
