I want to make something with it but last time I did it tasted semi raw even though I let it bake a while. Anything I can do to soften it?

Are you making it from scratch or from a can?
If from scratch, try precooking it for a few minutes on the stovetop so it gets a head start.
ETA: would probably also work with canned filling, but those are usually soft already.

Apples themselves aren't exactly tough to begin with. Cook the pie filling on thenstove a little if you want it to be mushy when you bake it.
