Nice!

And you pay what rental for a 3 bedroom, or what purchase price for a 3 bedroom?

I wouldn’t know. 3 bedrooms is a ‘mansion’ here and most families (including me) live in far less. (More than most places, when you’re neigborhood is as vibrant as ours, you’re only home to sleep and eat)

I grew up there and my (Mo) parents live there still. I find it hysterical that my 70 year old mothers best friends on the block are chassidish women younger than me!

Five Towns/Far Rockaway/Bayswater is the most diverse community I know of. People of all stripes- Cedarhurst, Woodmere, Lawrence, Inwood, Far Rockaway, Bayswater, North Woodmere, Hewlett- representing many diff types- shop in the same stores, mingle in the same places.... it's a breath of fresh air and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. The community far exceeds it's reputation.

I lived in far Rockaway and the five towns. I wouldn’t say it’s so diverse. Looking back now that I left everyone was a certain type to some extent.

I disagree, and I agree with the other two posters who said far rockaway and the 5T, but specifically Bayswater. I was actually reading through the comments to see if anyone mentioned it, because I would have for sure.
Bayswater itself has a very not NY feel to it, but at the same time you are close enough to FR and the 5T that you still have everything you need. It’s not at your fingertips like in Brooklyn, but that’s one of the benefits of living in a more suburban area.
The only thing is will disagree with that poster about is the school situation. It’s not that the MO part of the community is dying out, it’s that there is no busing to nassau county, so many people choose to send more locally. Except for my oldest and my baby, my kids are in nassau county schools. It’s draining, but I’m so so happy with their schools and with the chinuch they are receiving.
If you go to the part on shabbos, you will see chassidim, heimish, yeshivish, MO, and even a few not frum. (There are only a handful of those here, as far as I know.) As mentioned, there are Moroccans, bukharians, Israelis….so many different types of people, it’s really wonderful.

Kensington.
We have modern, sfardi, yeshivish, litvish, chaseedishe, chabad.
We all get along.

Also, there are many well respected dayanim and rabanim that live here from different groups. And some gedolim used to live here as well I’m not sure if anymore.

I think it depends where. I'm not super familiar with all the neighborhoods but I do get the sense that areas like beach 9th, or reads lane, and others seem pretty monolithic - basically yeshivish. Bayswater as I mentioned is super diverse. 5 towns there is diversity if you take a population survey, but I don't get the sense that people mix together that much. It seems more like a bunch of sub-communities sharing the same zip codes. But sometimes like if you take a class there you'll see that each individual is different.

There has been non-Jewish books on how everyone is self segregating them self weather by income, political views, ect..

Since Jews follow non-Jews in their country I guess this could be why it is happening.

I’ve never heard of it, but I don’t think it’s in Brooklyn, so I’m going to guess it’s in/near Lakewood. Those are the two most likely places where people don’t put a location.

The five towns is a huge mix of religious Jews . At this point there are barely any non religious Jews but there are so many different schools here from the coed mo to the most yeshivish in far Rockaway. People mix at shiuirim, minyanim, gg, the park and all shop in similar stores. The one common denominator is that it technically is a more affluent community (while there are plenty that aren’t the prices here do demand a certain affluence)

I live there as a single and loved that life but does it get exhausting as you get older to live that way?
