My kids (oldest is 10) are anyway starving by 5/6 so they eat then and are either sleeping or just coming for challah anyway to the seudah ). Hubbt is more than happy with doubling up / eating leftovers from the day meal and not making me cook special. Saves me a lot of time and money and less food going to waste. It’s not sad, it works for us and makes me enjoy yom tov much more when I don’t come in like a shmatte and have to cook for 4 different meals. |
Why don't you at least warm up the leftovers for him? It's coming out sounding critical, not meant to be...just genuinely curious.

Why shouldn’t he warm up the leftovers himself? What’s wrong with that?

Likely when he leaves to shul, it will be too early to start getting ready. If he warms it up when he gets home, he will have to wait for it to heat up. Nothing is WRONG with him warming food up himself, but nothing is WRONG with her warming it up for him either.

Either challah and soup or challah and grilled chicken salad.

Soup first, giving time for the other things to warm up. I’m actually serving the things I’m excited about then. DH is very insistent that shabbos be typical shabbos food-gefilte fish, chicken soup, shnitzel, cholent. So I finally get to have some fun!
