I used to just rock him or put him down if he was tired enough he fell asleep. As he's getting older 2.5 months now k'ah, putting him to sleep became a whole job. I need to pat him in his crib for 10 minutes or push him around in his bassinet carriage or put him on my lap and rock him side to side. And often it takes a few tries till he settles into sleep. I don't have patience anymore. Any shortcuts out there lol?
I know many will say to nurse to sleep but when I do that, he inevitably wakes up 10 minutes later to burp and then stays up, and then I need to put him to sleep again.

Nurse
Burp
Change diaper
Switch sides
Burp
Kiss
Put baby down
Sing shma
Hamalach hagoel
Sing some other song I want baby to grow up knowing
Pat a bit while singing
Leave before completely asleep.
2.5 months is a perfect age for this.

I spend some time with baby over my shoulder if I think baby might have to burp. Sometimes it does wake up baby and baby stays up for a while. Or if she seems very tired and upset, occasionally I just put her down awake even at this age and it usually works.

Yes, I do the same. Put them in, stroke their cheek, walk out.

With some babies putting down works, but I had those that would not. My friend is a baby expert and she would swaddle the baby and put pacifier and then rock on her leg, ( how do I explain? like as if her leg is shivering) and it put the baby to sleep like magic.

A nightly bath is a good thing to do to relax, make them tired, and get used to as a routine

Don’t let him cry. Very harmful in the long term and not nice in the short term.
