I bought 7 pairs for each child for Shabbos and 9 for weekday.
And no, I don’t have 400 kids.

Why does each kid need 16 pairs of tights? Seriously sounds insane to me.

Because this is for the whole season!
Shabbos tights tear and 4 is not enough for the whole season.

Think of sukkos. Your kids wear the same tights all Yomtov?

Why not buy as needed?. Not every child will rip their tights. You may have more than you need.

Trying to understand. For shabbos 3-4 is more than enough I honestly manage in two pairs unless it’s a year where there is 3 day yt. And weekday if let’s say u do laundry once a week (how?!) So 6-7 pairs. But I manage with 4-5 pairs bec I do laundry more often. But also do I need to buy all the pairs the most expensive type?

This is tried and true. This is the amount they need if we don’t want to borrow tights from the neighbors.

Ok I got my answer. It’s extravagant.
My kids should really manage with 4 pairs of tights for Shabbos from now until pesach.

They will rip them all in 1 day?. I'm not sure why you will have to borrow from a neighbor when they have other tights from earlier in a week. And how do you KNOW that is the exact number they will rip. Do your girls wear a special kind of tznius tights that rip easily? If they rip easily you will need more than 17 pairs anyway.

If you didn’t stock up on replacements now your cost would be more manageable. It will be spread out over the season.

You said 7 pairs plus 9 pairs. That's 16 per kid.

The truth is that maybe we so buy them this amount of tights over the year, but it's not all in one shot, so maybe that's why this sounds so extravagent to us.
