Puss in Boots: The Last Wish is technically a Shrek sequel, but it completely stands on its own.
The animation and writing are masterful. I can’t even begin to describe how well-made this movie is. And the message is surprisingly deep for a kids movie.
There is some rude humor (words like “cr4p”, a scene with words intentionally bleeped out but the context is very absurd so you couldn’t even really mentally replace them with known curse words), much slapstick violence and one villain who is especially ridiculously and psychotically over-the-top evil (another character: “you’re not gonna shoot a puppy, are you??” Villain: “yeah, in the face, why?” in a situation where getting shot turns the creature into a pile of glitter)

Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse is also clean, well-written and beautifully animated in a groundbreaking and distinctive style.
Again, language like “oh cr4p” or “that was a he11 of a show”. Female characters wear bodysuits that don’t show skin.
