Oh you just brought a smile to my face! I remember one one my kids always had that! We used to call him the plumber😝
It’s been years and his pants don’t do it anymore obviously, but thanks for the memories!
I have no idea what helps though

I had this problem for years. You need higher waisted pants, that’s your solution. Let me know if you want links.

This is so interesting now that someone mentioned it.
My son wears girls pants during the week and they Never do this!
He wears kidichic pants on shabbos and I had to take in the elastic inside the pants for it not to do this...

They also have no-buckle belts https://www.amazon.com/Stretch.....r=8-5 that you snap around the front most belt holder string thing that I don't know the name for.

My DS has a cute belly so he can't have pants that are tight on the top. I prefer no button or snap. I also prefer pants that are slightly more fitted (not leggings).

I've had an elastic belt on my son for ages. With a toddler-friendly clasp.

The button is just for decoration you can remove it if you want.
My guy is chunky with a “cute belly” as you call it so I know the challenge!!! The looser pants look sloppy on him and leggings look ridiculous.
