OP I feel your pain! This happened to
Me quite recently as well albeit not over the phone but I was fired on the spot. It certainly wasn’t fair and it wasn’t called for as I did nothing wrong. However, even having that knowledge doesn’t take away that pain of embarrassment. What I can say now being on the other end of this horrible time in my life is that I have the most fulfilling and wonderful job now. I’m so great full now that I lost that job because it opened the door for something much much better and I’m laughing at myself for being so upset. I r hope the same will be true for you as well. But just know this isn’t the end for you even though it feels that way and you will find the strength to start again.

Thanks for the kind words,
For now it's really hard, my whole family is busy asking why I was fired,
And I'm embarrassed that people might think behind by back " she probably DID something wrong, otherwise why would she be fired on the spot"
For reference I'm in the workforce for almost a decade and I was never fired until now 😞

It’s a horrible feeling and I can totally relate. Let them think what they want at the end of the day only Hashem knows the emes. Let yourself be upset it’s very valid and very unfair❤️

Op that's horrible.
I don't know if this will make you feel better but my husband was let go from his job from one day to the next without being given a reason. He picked himself up by the bootstraps and opened his own business. It's now less than 2 years later, he has several employees, and we make a beautiful income bh on our own terms bh.
May this hardship be the start of something bigger and better.

True story:
Many years ago a widow sold her retail store.
The buyer came by and said he wanted to look at the contract and he didn't have his copy on him.
The widow gave him her copy of the contract and the buyer ripped up the contract in front of her eyes and walked out.
The buyer wanted to break the contract without paying penalty to the widow so he tricked her.
The widow went crying to her Rebbe.
The Rebbe blessed her that she should find a buyer who will pay her more.
The widow found a new buyer who paid her more money, and even hired the widow for many years to be their sales lady!
My parents were the new buyers.

This is absolutely beyond awful.
When a door closes a new door opens. You can be in for a very welcome change. I wish you the most awesome yeshua soon.
And these people, they didn’t deserve you. Really didn’t.

OP it is extremely rare for an employer to give the employee notice when being let go. Almost always is it “on the spot”. They don’t typically extend the same courtesy employees do when quitting. Sometimes companies will offer severance but it would be a very unique circumstance for the employee to be informed in advance they are being fired and have a grace period before officially being let go. It just doesn’t work like that
I think the only thing they could have done differently in this scenario is being respectful and doing the conversation in person instead of over the phone, which also would have given you the opportunity to remove all of your belongings

If she’s being let go because a company is taking over then yes usually they would know a few days before…
No reason also not to let her come back for her things..
This all is just plain nasty.

Thank you.
My father a"h made a real kiddush hashem with his outstanding honesty in business.
Here is one story:
My father ordered a case of silver plate flatware.
By mistake the company, a very big non jewish manufacturer, sent him a case of sterling silver flatware.
The difference between silver plate and sterling silver was huge.
My father called the company and told them about the mistake. They were amazed at my father's honesty.
The CEO of the company called my father to personally thank him.
My father made sure to inform that he is a religious Jew!

OP-
That is a nightmare.
It may be an opportunity to open your own business. You have nothing to lose now. Nothing to decide. You don’t have the past paycheck to tempt you to stay put.
Use your skills and network to move forward. You can do this!!!

I really feel bad for the op. Losing a job is terrible especially so suddenly. I lost a tutoring job last year due to being sick in the hospital with the flu. Bh I got another tutoring job shortly after. However, finding jobs these days or even finding customers, or clients for a self owned business is hard. The job and business market is very hard these days. It’s not so simple to just get a new job or be successful at a business. You need Hashem help. I’m in the process of building a tutoring business. I’m trying very hard to find students. So far haven’t been successful.

Thank you all wonderful woman from immamother!
The last few days has been extremely hard,
I have no drive to wake up, eat, or anything.
I know that better days are coming, but the job market is tough, and I'm still ashamed of what happened.
It bothers me the most how some ex co-workers are giving me now the cold shoulder,
Hashem will definitely help.

OP, I really feel for you!
I'm in a different but also horrible situation, where I put my heart and soul and many many hours of overtime to build up a new company I was working for. Now, a few years later, the owner decided they can do better with someone cheaper and less experienced then me.
They did not fire me, just demoted me in public and its extremely uncomfortable and embarassing for me to show up at work every day.
And I'm bored because most of my work was taken away from me.
I'm desperate to find a new job but even with all my qualifications, nothing very good has come my way yet. the job market is really not good right now.
I hope you were able to find something better! (and if yes, I'd love to know which recruiter helped you so I can reach out as well!)

I had something similar.
I learned the hard way to never again invest my blood in other people’s successes.
If I work for someone it has to be very clear that IM gaining.
Selfish people teach you to protect yourself.
As they say, you got me once shame on you, you got me twice shame on Me! I’m much more savvy now.
