Is there anybody else out there whose child suffers from migraines?
No, not strong headaches, like full blown migraines.
The ones that ended you up in the ER until the diagnosis.
The ones that send you to the neurologist for 6 months of testing, etc.
I feel so very alone and helpless each time my child goes through an episode.
Chasdei Hashem medicine and accupuncture helps alot.
But I'm wondering if there's anyone else that understands my struggle.
Perhaps we can be mechazek eachother....

Not to scare you, but there can be an underlying cause to it. Have you gotten them checked using an mri or something of the sort?

Yes. Please go to Dr. Lisa Yanlon in NYC if you live in the tri-state area. She's the one doc that got it under control bh. 1212-794-3550. Hatzlocha

Thanx
I got it checked out, by a top Pedyatric Neurolgist.
Yes to the MRI aswell
Diagnosis: migraines
There are no triggers, very sudden onset, last a while. Then it's over.
I'm not trying to figure this out. BTDT.
It's been going on now for a few years.
Just trying to reach out for support.

Yes. And I know you didn't want to talk about causes, but if it's a girl and she has reached teen years, see an endocrinologist as well- it took us too long to realize it was often related to her cycle and hormonal levels.

Ive been suffering from migraines since my teens. No wonder my daughter suffers as well. She was barely walking/talking when she indicated her head was hurting. It's not out of control, bh, but she does suffer. Then I have a son who gets it very rarely, but when he does, it hits beyond control. He literally cries with real tears until he falls asleep.

Thank you!!!!!!!
My child is more your DS's case.
It happenda bout every 2-3 weeks.
By now, he recognizes it early on, and manages with strong painkillers.
Before this, you couldn't talk or touch him until he threw up and then fell into a deep sleep.
It feels so validating Amother Fern that I'm not alone.

Op, I suffered from the age of 11. It aas very hard. My mother did as well.
The only thing that helped me was to lie in a pitch black room and fall aslerp and let it pass.
When I aas a teen I took very strong pain killers.
I also got auras sometimes. With or without the migraine.
Kol hakavod thst you have advocated for your child, found a diagnosis wnd helped your chold to be able to cope.

Not me but two of my siblings. One takes preventative medicine and both take migraine Botox shots and they finally have relief for the past while. Used to be every time the weather changed or stress peakedā¦
Itās terrible, must be so hard to watch as a parent.

How old is your child? My son is 11, daughter is now 13. All of my siblings, except for 1, suffer from it (we all get it from my father a"h) and we all deal with it in such different ways. We also all get them in such different ways. It's really a terrible disease to suffer.

For all you imas I feel so bad for you and your kids who are suffering. Itās not possible itās diet related? As a girl I suffered from pounding migraines and popped Motrin all the time to take the edge off. Iāve since cleaned up my diet for other reasons and have not had a migraine or headache in a very long time BāH.

I suffer from terrible migraines. I could go for weeks or even months without a headache and then one day Iāll wake up with a headache and it will last for a few weeks. Itās unbearable. Nothing helps. Iāve had lots of testing including a ct scan of the brain.
Unfortunately my kids have been getting migraines since they are young. For them it seems to last for a few hours but the intensity is beyond describable. They usually end up vomiting and finally fall asleep.
I wish there was something that could nip the migraine before it completely takes over.
Itās so hard to have to deal with such pain and to watch your children be in tremendous pain.
I donāt really need a support group. I need a medication that works.

I usued to suffer from veey painful migraines and then severe hemiplegicĀ migraines.
The only thing that worked for me was diet change. Gluten, diary, corn free. Avoid processed foods, dyes and preservatives as much as possible.
I rarely get them anymore bh. And when I do it's really not a big deal.
It's just a bit of numbness and tingling in my head and face and fingers for a few hours or up to 2 days but my life and days aren't interrupted.
I used to have them every few weeks. Painful migraines would last 2 full days or even longer. hemiplegicĀ migraines would last around a week or up to 10 days each it was HORRIBLE.
Please look into the diet part.
I actually started on that diet due to other health issues and this reprieve was a welcome surprise.

Agree! Aimovig (another monthly injection) has literally been a lifesaver. Not sure if itās approved for children but ask your doctor.

I suffered terribly from migraines as a child. It was terrible. Craniosacral therapy really helped. For years afterwards I got no migraines. In the last few years I have has a few.
My 9 year old has started to complain about headaches recently šŖ.

Oh the joys....
Of being woken 2 am w/
"Mommy, my head.... I can't anymore"
And being 2 a.m., I'm so that I'm half asleep and nauseous from waking up to fast.
Seriously though, there's never a good time for a migraine, but 2 a.m. š¤¦āāļø
