I'm very interested in the culinary arts. I take my food very seriously, and love to please others with it. I enjoy very much preparing parties, both the cooking and the display.
I'm right now looking into business ideas.
Some options I thought about was : TAke-out, small party catering, baked goods for simchas (fancy cakes and cookies), and party planning (especially love themed parties)
I have even thought of culinary art school (I've heard of orthodox men who were able to do it successfully w/o ever tasting their stuff because of Kashrut. [I'd really love to go to that new school in Jerusalem but a) I cannot leave my dh and kids b) dont know if theyhave woman's classes]) However, I cannot find a school in a close enough proximity to my house. (I'm sure their is one, since I live in a city famed for it's restaurant, but my internet searched came up empty)
Is there anyone who is in any of these fields, who can possibly give me some insiders info into the business? Thanks.

I am 'in the business'. I started out w/ a hashgacha on my kitchen, a small menu of foods I made well, and hope. I had planned on having some lunch orders (deli sandwiches etc.) and some shabbos take out too.
wow has it taken off!! people started calling me for catering jobs almost right away. I have not gone to culinary school. nor anything beyond high school. but I love cooking, and am learning by experience. I also work as a mashgiach, so ive picked up lots of pointers on the catering end- organization, waitresses, etc.
I'll be glad to answer any questions I can. either post them or pm me if u want
