We bought loafers online for DS. They tore in a few weeks. So we bought better quality leather loafers and... they tore in a few weeks.

Is there a brand that you recommend that's sturdy, reasonably priced and looks similar enough to what other bochurim wear?

I found the Joseph Doniti shoes to be great quality and great prices. I have a son who always kills his shoes and the loafers from Joseph Doniti really last

I second Joseph Danitti. I know they're available in Lakewood and Baltimore, not sure where else. My high school son wore his the entire year last year. I have a younger son that got their Shabbos shoes last June and he's still wearing them, vs needing to get him new ones every 1-2 months before!

Absolutely agree about Joseph Danitti. My son used to kill his weekday shoes - like all through high school. He bought loafers from Joseph Danitti for beis medrash in EY and they held up even with all the walking and stone streets etc. Shabbos shoes from there last years. Now my son does the cole hahn zerogrande shoes for weekday but last I heard Joseph Danitti was working on making his own version of those.

Another vote for joseph danitti! I have three teenage boys in them and they are absolutely worth the money. The one time we substituted with another company thinking we should save a few dollars, we regretted it

Thank you rmbg for both of your enthusiastic posts on this topic. Your post reminds me to write an update. We went to Joseph Danitti and the shoes we got are still going strong.
I thought it was funny to see a store full of nothing but black loafers but it's obviously serious business for these bochurim.
Everyone should wear them in good health.
