We will be away for two days... and need meal ideas.
We'll be leaving Sunday after breakfast and coming home after dinner Monday.
I don't mind picking up prepared food from a deli, and they can vacuum pack... but need ideas!
Hotel will have fridge. I think my menu so far is VERY boring, and would be grateful for some help
Please note: my husband doesn't eat any "strange" food, I.e. spinach, broc, mushrooms, hot dogs etc., and kids don't eat sandwiches. They actually are very picky
TIA
My ideas so far:
Sunday Lunch
------------------
Kids: Hard-boiled egg and yogurt
Adults: potato knish (maybe, unless better suggestion)
Sunday Dinner:
------------------
Kids: macaroni with fish sticks
Adults: deli sandwich
Monday breakfast:
------------------
Kids: cereal with milk. sliced cheese.
Adults: cereal with milk.
Monday Lunch:
------------------
Kids: string cheese, pumpkin muffin and ????
Adults:
Monday Dinner:
------------------
Kids:
Adults:

Deli sandwiches
Grilled chicken is good cold in a sandwich or plain
Oatmeal packets for breakfast
Could you get a disposable grill and grill hamburgers?

If you are going to Dutch Wonderland any of the two days, they have a Kosher Food stand where you can buy (overpriced) fleishigs. We did it and the kids loved the chicken nuggets and curly fries. We had chicken and falafel. It worked out well for us.

Bagels and spreads
Wraps- grill chicken before and refrigerate, tuna, egg salad, etc.
Pitas and falafel
Garlic knots from a pizza shop?
Tradition type soups if you have hot water
corn chips and salsa/dips
bourekas
do the kids like salads? pickles? corn salad? cole slaw?
will they eat deli plain?
cottage cheese and fruit? (I don't like it, but I know others do)

I went away for a week with my kids. here's what you need:
a plug-in kettle.
you can bring pasta, couscous, rice, frozen veggies, oatmeal, eggs, really anything you boil on the stove.
along with that, you bring anything you can microwave sealed. (though I got away without doing that much.)
also, bagels, rice cakes, and cheeses/spreads do well. cold cuts travel well and last a long time. don't bother cooking beforehand. get a small cooler and store any yogurt, cheeses, etc in it on the way to the hotel, you should be fine.
