I need a new window unit. This model was recommended as quiet. I searched online and saw some bad reviews. Anyone have this model and can give feedback?

My mother has these units (higher BTUs) because they fit into her wall sleeves. They work just fine. But you need to overestimate the number of BTUs. 8000 BTU is quite low for a normal size room.
What size room is this for, and are there open doorways that make the air space it needs to cover even bigger?

18’ x 12’
The frum salesman said to go up to 10k. I was just afraid it would be too cold because the old unit was 8,000 btu.

Take the 10,000. You can always keep it on low. Everything is high efficiency these days which actually makes the machines weaker.
