I'm just trying to get a general idea here,
how much do you charge for logo design?
also, when doing a package design (logo, letterheads, businescards) does the price get cheaper?

It's smart to charge a flat rate. start with very cheap and go up as your portfolio increases. Start with $45, go up all the way to $450 !

$45 for a logo?
you are kidding right? I work out my costs based on $50 an hour.
I've been in this field for a few years now but for some reason just haven't been asked to do logos till recently.
Does $300 sound fair for a logo?
and $400 for the package?

I think $300 is fair. $200 maybe - bec. there are some websites that create logos for 200 and you ahve an unlimited amount of changes...
package consisting of business cards, stationery, envelopes. yes. 400 for a package sounds fair.

Just suggesting. People will go to India for less. If you want to build yourself up, start extremely low. Nobody will pay a few hundred if you don't have lots of work to show.

thanks
I ended up quoting 325 for the package (250 for the logo) and they accepted
shaklee I hear you, except that I've been doing GD for a few years so I'm not an amateur
as far as going to india, they do that for printing sometimes but not for design.
Also the results are less then perfect but good enough if you are prepared to get what you pay for.

I just billed a client today 450 for logo, and another 350 for stationary design.
(Stationary design= letterhead, 2nd sheet LH, and a whole bunch of diff. sized envelopes.)
Above charges did not include printing.
Pricing is all based on your experience, talent, and what your market can handle.

I charge $250 for a logo. $50 is quite cheap for graphic design.

Yep that's true so I figure, I'm an experienced enough GD to take a reasonable amount like what I quoted but since I haven't done a lot of logos, I'm not charging like you queen just yet.

Yes, its true that in India you can get graphic design for a fraction of the price. I'm still not about to advise someone to charge as little as they charge in India (unless they're REAL beginners).. Just like I wouldnt advise someone who does data entry at home to charge $2 an hour...
