My fleshig oven broke. The only fleshig thing I need to cook still for Yom tov is a pan of roast chicken on the bone. I remember a thread here recently where someone said that a caterer that they know often cooks food on the hot place. Anyone know if it would work to put a 9x13 foil pan of chicken straight on the hot plate for a few hours? My hot plate gets very hot

I wouldn't risk it. Do you have a neighbor who would lend you an oven for a while?

Try cooking in a frying pan on the stovetop. Add a bit of water and keep on checking.

It’s not safe to cook raw food on a hot plate. Can you ask a neighbor if you can stick one tray in their oven? Does your stove work? You can cook chicken on the bone on the stove.

My mil used to do that for shabbos, I never ate from it but I used to see it bubbling on the hotplate and it looked cooked through when the others ate it.

You can cook it stovetop.
Place lots of onions in a pot. Add chicken, salt, pepper, garlic, paprika, a bit of water. Cook for about 2 hours.

I would only do it if I had a thermometer to check the internal temp of the chicken and a lot of time. Stove top or crock pot is the best option.
