New issue. Dc never had this issue. 3 years old. What could the reasons be? When asked why dc crying saying scared. Scared of outside, show them drawn curtains, locked windows, locked doors. Why would they be scared? It’s a new issue dc has never woken up for this reason. could this be anxiety? What could the reasons be for this?

Also dc not walking stairs at school, tells teacher they’re scared of the stairs. Vision checked out pretty much so not sure if it’s that or something else. What could reasons be?

His vestibular system and certain reflexes.
Just listened to a talk from the Guttmann sisters that discussed this. REach out to them for the talk. www.handsonapproaches.com

Did he fall on the stairs in school? Sounds like something happened to make him feel unsafe suddenly.

Not that I’m aware of. We’re suspecting something but won’t know for sure for another few weeks. I’m trying to rule out or trying to think of other things that might be bothering dc in the meantime.

Yes, it's anxiety but anxiety isn't a cause, it's a symptom. Especially if it's sudden onset.

Sometimes it’s just an anxiety disorder just like people have many other disorders. It can be symptom, usually of a traumatic situation or it can be an actual disorder.

How do I find out? What can I do?

That was my first thought. Strep or another infection, be it viral or bacterial.
My kid has a tic borne disease that caused it. But it was hard before we got to the bottom of it.
Try 3 days off motrin ever 6 hours. (Don't wake him to give the night dose. If he's asleep skip it.) See if the behaviour improves. If it does, you'll know it's def inflammation.

Might be inflammation from something else thst we’re figuring out. Wondering besides for that, and besides for strep. What other reasons could there be?

You can try a social worker to evaluate the situation.

Would anxiety be ruled out if the child is functioning ok at school and only acting out at home? Could it be just the accumulation of being well behaved all day making them give it all out later at home?

They can show it more at home. But you said he’s refusing stairs at school out of fear so sounds like it’s there too. And it comes out most at bedtime when they sit alone with their thoughts.
